GOProud: If Michele Bachmann Is The GOP Nominee, We'll Back Her

GOProud today announced that while they have "concerns" about Rep. Michele Bachmann, electing ANY Republican candidate over Barack Obama is their primary goal. Therefore, Bachmann will have the backing of GOProud, should she win the nomination. So what if the nominee believes you are "part of Satan" and that you deserve to be legislated against at every opportunity?

In an interview with Politico, GOProud Chairman Christopher Barron said he was "concerned" and "troubled" by Bachmann's record and past statements about gay issues, but would not "be part of any 'war against Michele Bachmann.'" GOProud officials generally stress that sending a Republican to the White House trumps a candidate's view on one issue. "We are committed to defeating Barrack Obama in 2012," LaSalvia said. "And want to be helpful to whoever secures the GOP nomination."

Tony Perkins: Log Cabin Republicans Are Lying About RNC Appointment

"Chairman Preibus called me over the weekend and assured me that Cooper was not on the payroll and had not been 'appointed.' He simply volunteered to be a part of an open group of individuals who will personally give the party $30,000 and try to raise $300,000 or more. The Loggers wanted the RNC to release a statement celebrating Cooper purchase of a seat on the finance committee, but it declined. Knowing that the Log Cabin group hasn't been truthful in its efforts to subvert the GOP's platform, their dishonesty about buying their way into the RNC should come as no surprise." - FRC head Tony Perkins, claiming LCR head R. Ken Mehlman Confronted Over Past

Activist Jon Winkleman tried to get former RNC chair Ken Mehlman to own up to his role in numerous anti-gay campaigns, but Mehlman wasn't having it. Clip description:

I ran into Bush's former RNC Chair Ken Mehlman who oversaw the anti-LGBT campaigns and ballot questions Bush used as wedge issues and to throw red meat to his base. Mehlman claims he came out after Bush left office, though it was widely known in DC that Mehlman was gay at the time. He knew what he was doing and that it was hurting other LGBT Americans. I know he helped with the efforts to pass marriage in NY but he still supports those who do us harm. Also his cynical anti-LGBT campaigns at the RNC fanned the flames of hate and violent hate crimes increased in the districts they focused. LGBT people were hurt...physically, because of Mehlman's actions. So of course I had to go over and say something.

Gay Rights?

You don't often see "gay rights" mentioned on homocon sites, which are typically more concerned about "wealth preservation" and screwing the poor. So I had to follow the tweet that heralded the above story. It turns out that the right to carry a concealed handgun anywhere you please is a gay rights issue. At least it is in the bizarro world of Gay Patriot.
