Tre-Pred-dation
By Seattlehawk94
EXHALE.....AGAIN....
The Canucks actually showed they can STOP goals as well as score them by putting on one of the best defensive shows in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last night hold the Nashville Underwoods to only 23 Shot on Goal in a 2-1 that vaulted them to their first Western Conference Finals apperance since 1994.
In a series where both Netminders were Vezina Finalists and goals were at a premium the Canucks just found a way to win. Pekka Rinne in a losing effort impressed the hell out of the hockey world that doesn't see many Predators games holding Vancouver's vaunted offense to 13 goals (plus an empty netter), hats off to him...For the rest of the Preds...Well, get some offense kids and you might just have a nice little team there in Hickcity..
The story of this series though can be summed up in 2 words...Ryan...Kesler...Kess had 11 points and scored 5 goals in the final 4 games of the series including a game winner in Overtime in Game 3 when the Canucks were on the verge of letting the whole season fall into peril. Kess has been blocking shots, dumping pucks, hitting, passing, SCORING, and most of all LEADING. His "one game at a time" has become the rallying cry for a team in need of leadership not being given by a pair of people I'll refer to as "the Sisters". One of those gals wears the "C" on his jersey but make no mistake...Kess is the leader of this team...You might rack up regular season wins with a prettyboy Swede but you WIN CUPS with gritty gutty guys like Ryan Kesler.
So now THAT Tre-Pred-ation is over it's time to begin sweating a new opponent. Could it be Sharks led by former T-Bird Patrick Marleau---err..."Led" is the wrong word if you ask Jeremy Roenick (him of the "Marleau is gutless" comments a couple of nights ago). Or could it be the Red Menance that's had every "ov" player from Soviet Russia save for Yerkinov Jackinov...Either way...I'm not worried...This is OUR YEAR...
I hope....[fingers crossed]
