A long wait....

A week between wins....That was easy....

A year between playoff series wins....Piece of cake...

Almost two decades between moments....An eternity...

April 30, 1994....The Toronto Blue Jays were the World Champions, the Dallas Cowboys were a dynasty, the Bulls just lost Jordan....

Pavel Bure broke free and scored in Overtime in Game 7 vs the Calgary Flames....That night the Canucks pulled off a miracle by coming back from down three games and winning the series...Three games....Three Overtime wins....That run didn't end until Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals in a heartbreaker to the Rangers. A team that had NO CHANCE to play for the Cup made an amazing run to the last second of the Finals with a chance to win it....It would never be like that again. You NEVER forget your first time...

Jump to last night....

The President's Trophy Winners from VanCity were on the verge. The verge of blowing a series THEY had a stranglehold on. A series THEY led by THREE GAMES. A series that if lost would cause wholesale changes for the franchise.

I was going to do a breakdown of the series....But this series can be broken down in ONE GAME...Game SEVEN...

The Canucks and Blackhawks played this game like the whole series, the Canucks jumped out early, held the lead, then.....Choked....

When Jonathan Toews scored shorthanded with under 2 minutes left to tie the game and send it to Overtime the breath of every Canucks fan from Onalaska, Alaska to Onalaska, Washington was sucked out of their chest. The Canucks were going to Overtime and they were GOING to lose. In Overtime Alex Burrows took a ticky-tack penalty and the Blackhawks had it...

Then....

A little magic dust was sprinkled...

The Canucks hung on, sucked it up and killed the penalty. For a moment it looked like we MIGHT hang on. The only problem was somehow beating Cory Crawford who'd been the story of this series.

Before that thought even reached my mind I heard screaming from the other room on the TV my girl was watching....4 seconds later on the TV I was watching Burrows steal the puck and it was over....Just like that the Can't-nucks the little team that couldn't had killed the monkey known as the Blackhawks and exacted 3VENGE....1994 was repeating itself and all I could do was cry....I admit it...I lost it...After ALL the crap as a fan I've been through 116, 95, XL, 1998 Rose Bowl, Nuggets, Bulls, '94 Finals....It was OVER...The monkey was off MY BACK as well....Yeah, it's just a First Round Series. So what? There is just a feeling I have in this team....Think I'm making a trip soon for a parade on Robson Street, magic dust when sprinkled on a GREAT TEAM (which none of the other's mentioned were) it goes a LONG way.

Now we begin a series with Carrie Underwood's hubby that's never won a playoff series before last week...I like our chances....

Said before OT started Burrows would win it...Only reason? It sounded like Bure....

Almost 20 years.....

Bure and Burrows.........It just sounds good together....
