Game 1derwood
By SeattleHawk94
Carrie Underwood's hubby 0....Canucks WON.....
Mike Tyson isn't in the building, there is no "Hangover" in this script....The Canucks did what they are SUPPOSED to do, hold serve on Home Ice.
Less than 24 hours since the Canucks slayed the dragon and the Blackhawks in Overtime they took the ice and played the way the a President's Trophy Winner should.
Roberto Luongo faced just 20 shots and turned them all away posting a second Game 1 Shutout in a row. Only one of those saves was even trouble. The Canucks defense controlled the shooting lanes and shut down the Preds' offense.
Chris Higgins scored on a nice cross ice feed from Maxim Lapierre in the slot and the Canucks kept the pressure on Pekka Rinne all night long finishing with 30 shots on goal. Rinne played lights out but you get the feeling the lack of defensive help is going to bit him as this series moves on.
Mr. Underwood, Mike Fisher, well...He was on the ice for the only goal of the game and took 1 shot in 22 minutes of ice time. That is pretty much the story of the whole Preds night. The fact they only lost 1-0 says they are in deep trouble because the Sedins, Burrows, and rest of the Canucks big guns are just waiting to go off...You outshoot a team that badly it's only a matter of time before those pucks start finding the twine...
Game 2 is Saturday Night and this series has all the makings of a sweep...Nashville has NO BUSINESS being on the same ice as these Canucks....
MVP: Luongo: His 3rd Career Playoff Shutout was easy but it was a tone setter for the series.
Fast Fact: Luongo's 3rd Shutout in the playoffs puts him 3 behind Kirk McLean's franchise record of 6.
