Summary - When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado . Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.
So, unlike Justin Timberlake and his claims to "Bring Sexy Back" Ms Elkeles ACTUALLY does just that with the second installment to the Perfect Chemistry trilogy. This time though, the hot Alejandro isn't our main star, no, that falls to his younger brother Carlos. Proving that the one trait he got from his older brother is a smart mouth, a chip on his shoulder and the ability to turn girls into a puddle of lust goo.
Carlos is like a bad boy of the best kind, which means he's HOT and has the whole Mexican thing rocking for him. Plus, he moves to Colorado and manages to find the one girl that is SO not like him at all in Kiara, and then he throws down some sexy times with his rock hard muscular body.
Now, this is quite shamefull but the reason I enjoyed this books was hands down due to the fact that OMG LOTSA SEXY TIMES. Kiara was an interesting female lead, because she wasn't how I expected her to be. She was quiet and shy and SO not a girly girl. Elkeles has perfected the way she writes these novels, because like its predecessor, the writing is fast paced and make for easy reads because they never dwindle too much on unnecessary factors. She knows what she's good at and writing completely badass boys with good hearts is something she does well.
BUT, having a second novel that follows a VERY similar plotline to the Perfect Chemistry made the story a little too predictable to me. Yes, the sexy times kept me entertained, but I never questionned where the story was going, because it was obvious before even opening the book how the story would end. Also, I found the relationship between Kiara and Carlos to be pretty rushed, because we all know there is a BIG difference between love and lust and I just never felt like they crossed that particular line, I felt like I was told they did. WHATEVS they take their tops off and do some rather rude things, so I was happy regardless. And, can I just say, I HATE EPILOGUES SO DARN MUCH. That is all.
